President Buhari meets with APC Governors in Abuja

On Tuesday, June 18th 2019 President Buhari met with a delegation of the APC Governor's forum at the State House, Abuja.



Some of the APC Governors in attendance include; Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum.

Police arrests Man who Vandalised Cars at Nigerian High Commission in London

A Nigerian man has been arrested in London for allegedly destroying official cars at the Nigerian High Commission.

The man, identified as Jeffrey Ewohime, was at the High Commission to collect his international passport, which had expired since November 2017.

A statement by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chief executive officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said that the man got to the venue at 2pm, one hour after the official collection time had passed and was denied entry.

The statement added that Ewohime also did not have his collection slip, a requirement for collection of the document.

The statement continued: “He thereafter left agitated and returned from a nearby hotel to destroy about seven cars, 5 belonging to the mission, and 2 to visitors who parked nearby.”

“His attempt to destroy the High Commissioner’s car failed as it is a bullet proof. I am told that he has been arrested by the police.”

“He destroyed seven brand new cars , except the ambassador’s car which is bullet proof. This is a despicable act, which must be condemned by all. Of course, the law must take its course.”

An incident report from the High Commission to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) said that Ewohime arrived at 1.30pm, and after he was denied entry, went to a nearby hotel and picked up crates of bottled water, using them to destroy the cars.

The Nigerian Immigration Service also released a statement, saying Ewohime’s passport had been issued since June 6th, 2019.

Landlord accuses Cynthia Morgan of Owing ₦1.3m Rent

Dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan has been accused by her landlord of owing rent of ₦1.3 million, Punch reports.

The singer who stays in an apartment in Omole Estate, Lagos has reportedly been charged to court for the failure to pay her rent.

She’s been given quit notice, a source told Punch, but her brother has pleaded for a grace period after the initial 6 months required by the law.

Asides the ₦1.3 million owed in rent, the source added that the singer has been served court papers for evading tax up to the amount of ₦3.584 million. The source said:

Ever since she moved into the apartment as a tenant, the owner of the building has described her as a nightmare. She has since been given quit notice. At a point, the owner of the house didn’t even know who was staying in the flat because every day, new faces showed up at the apartment and they would leave the gate open at odd hours. Young scary looking boys with different hair colours come around and they smoke in the compound.

They disturb the nice couple living in the flat upstairs, who have been complaining that they can’t even let their kids play in the compound because of the type of people they see around. She has owed waste bills for over a year. They always play loud music at odd hours of the day. Funnily enough, the couple who live upstairs are also popular; the man is a very popular celebrity designer but I would not want to mention his name. His wife always complains that her home help sweeps cigarette butts everywhere all the time.

Cynthia Morgan decided at a point that she was going to be recording in her room. When the noise was too much, the owner of the house had to talk to her about it. She has been given quit notice. The six months grace period is up and she was meant to have moved out last month. She is flat broke. They have been pleading that they don’t have anywhere to move to neither can they come up with the rent. But it’s her brother that has been speaking on her behalf. We haven’t seen or heard from her but he claims she is always locked up in her room.

The court papers have been submitted to Cynthia Morgan’s apartment already and she has been served a court date. She owes ₦1.3m. According to her elder brother, she is in the house. She was also served court papers for not paying up to ₦3.584m in tax. It was the agent that sued her on behalf of his client. He is a very popular real estate agent; he is like a celebrity estate agent. He’s the one that gets apartments for most of them.

Cynthia Morgan’s rep, who identified himself as Maze, has however denied the story.

They sound like lies to him, he said, and all the allegations will have to be proven.

I do not know of anything like that and I would say that it is a lie. I do not know about any court papers, so I would say that it is a lie. To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware that she owes her landlord any money. I believe that if they claim she smokes, entertains strange guests and leaves the gate open at odd hours, they should have proof. In my book, none of this statement is factual. I don’t know about these details and I would say that it is a lie.

DMX Rapper Sentenced to 1 Year in Jail For Tax Evasion

The Ruff Ryder rapper whose real name is Earl Simmons was brought before a judge, Jed Rakoff who delivered the sentencing.

It is reported that DMX  didn't pay tax on income earned from 2002 to 2005, and from 2010 to 2015. On top of the prison sentence, Simmons must pay $2.29M back to the US government.

Simmons had pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion but disputed the prosecution’s claim that he deliberately avoided tax by living a “cash lifestyle”, and by concealing his wealth during a bankruptcy hearing. He said he did not steal the money “like a criminal in a comic book”, and acknowledged that the tax should be paid.

The sentence was a long way below the five years recommended by the prosecution. Sentencing judge Jed Rakoff acknowledged Simmons was “a good man, a very far from perfect man”, but said he had committed a “brazen and blatant” crime.

The high point of the court hearing was when DMX' lawyer played one of his songs citing that the song speaks to everyone. That didn't change the heart of the Judge who already had his judgment ready for the accused.

President Buhari to reportedly embark on medical leave April 1st

Sahara Reporters has reported that President Muhammadu Buhari will be leaving the country on a medical leave on April 1.

Writing on its Twitter page, Sahara Reporters said the president is expected to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2018 in London from April 16 – 20.

President Buhari is however expected to leave the country as early as April 1 on a medical leave.

The president had in 2017 stayed on a medical leave in London for over 100 days.

He was reported to be receiving treatment, although the presidency refused to disclose his ailment.

A return date for the president’s reported 2018 medical leave is yet to be announced, said the news portal
